 Job Responsibilities    The general maintenance worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing- sinks, water coolers, and toilets; painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
Experience/Education Required Demonstrate proper use of e-mail and internet. Able to access SharePoint and demonstrate navigation to Work Instructions. Able to access MAXIMO and demonstrate proper use of electronic time reporting system. Able to access and demonstrate understanding of the CTTR Occupational Safety and Health Plan. Able to access and demonstrate understanding of the Saalex Solutions corporate employee handbook. Knowledge of Quality Assurance practices and procedures. Understanding of inventory, property and tool control procedures IAW Work Instructions. Incumbent may be subject to outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions and requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, lifting, working in cramped positions and climbing. Understand the purposes and advantages of keeping work areas, tools and equipment clean and uncluttered. Understands and properly uses the 5 "S" principals. Perform janitorial and custodial services if required. Must maintain current, CPR/First Aid Certifications. Understand facilities maintenance and corrosion prevention and control. Obtain and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License and provide courier pickup and delivery services as required. May be required to obtain and maintain a Boat Operation Certification. Performs general, non-specialized tasks in the maintenance of target ranges and supporting facilities. Under general supervision, performs maintenance of targets and target areas using general purpose tractors, lawn mowers, power tools and hand tools. Performs removal of ordnance debris and scrap material to designated government storage areas by lifting and placing material on transport vehicles, sorting material by category, and storage within government designated areas. Responsible for painting, welding, carpentry, masonry repair, and/or alteration of structural buildings within designated target areas and minor electrical repair. Performs corrosion control and minor repairs. Responsible for grass cutting and weed control at all sites. Performs minor maintenance /repair such as oil changes, cleaning, washing, and waxing on contractor and government owned vehicles. Assists HVAC/Ground Power Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Operators/Mechanics and Carpenter as needed in performing their maintenance functions. Dismantles machines or equipment and replaces defective parts and motors. Cleans and lubricates maching parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings. Replaces machine belts. Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines. Paints machines or equipment to prevent corrosion. Bends and cuts conduit and wire. Drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections. Connects wires to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment. Replaces switches and fuses. Splices wire and insulates wire with electrical tape. Bends, cuts, and threads pipe; cuts openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes. Patches and replaces plaster. Clears clogged drains and replaces plumbing fixtures. Assists and implements IAW Equipment PM Program. Operates and is responsible for the overall maintenance of light power equipment such as compressors, pumps hoist, trucks, tractors, lawn tractors, mowers. weed eaters, and other small power equipment. Uses established safety practices, procedures and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. Follows federal and state rules when storing, using, handling labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials and waste IAW environmental standards. Performs clean up duties such as cleaning equipment, sweeping, straightening, and lining up tools and other tools and other property in the assigned area.
